How does Wine the program work?

How do i get Wine to work iv been trying to figure this thing out for a few hours and cant get any programs working on it. Can any one help me?

Do you at least have it installed? What have you done already?

go applications>terminal

to run a program you like

say you have firefox.exe for windows in your home folder you would do

wine /home/(yourusename)/firefox.exe

that is just to install though. After you install the program should be in the wine menu.

Okay thank you i have it installed and every thing but the only thing i could get working was note pad and it was there by default

Okay i go and try to use Xfire trough Wine and it doesn't work? Ant reasons why. i typed the location to file right in the terminal.
