Hi,
Blender is a strange 3D app with some funny ways.
One is that it takes up the whole screen, it covers the kicker bar so you have no access to other programs that are running at the same time, this is a problem when you are using a browser as a tutorial, you cant switch between the two apps.
In KDE you can open them in different workspaces and use hotkeys to switch between them but in Gnome there doesnt seem to be a hotkey facility to switch between workspaces.
I have found a way around this problem, if you go to an unused frame in blender and put the Renderer at 25% then hit render, for some reason the kicker bar reappears when the render box is open.
You can then get access to the taskbar to switch apps.
You can leave this reder box open in the back ground and next time you try to render that empty frame it just brings it to the front and the taskbar reappears.
You can render other frames as well, it allows more than one render box open at once, so you can just leave the empty one there as a switcher aid.
Some how Mepis on KDE you get two entries for Blender in the menu, one is a version that has the control bar at the top as other apps, so it doesnt cover the kicker bar.
I thought Id put this in the Art section instead of the app help section, if I have done wrong then please move it.
I hope this helps someone because this does seem to be a great and popular 3D app for Linux.
Good Luck and Take Care.
