My friend has a Xandros 3 based pc(running KDE) . His desktop looks like the Mac OS X ( well almost). Is it possible to do the same in Ubuntu?

Sure...
go out to gnome-look.org
youll need a few themes and such, but its doable.
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=13548 - use this GTK theme
along with the icon and wallpaper theme.
If you install gdesklets, you can create a toolbar that closely resembles the aqua toolbar.
I think you can do the same with Superkaramba, but im not sure.
Anyone else?

Don't worry, there are TONS of OS X lookalike Gnome themes. art.gnome.org also has some, including ports of third-party OS X themes and themes inspired by the OS X look. Here are a few:
http://art.gnome.org/themes/gtk2/615 - Aluminum Alloy Volcanic
http://art.gnome.org/themes/gtk2/571 - Glossy P (beautiful)
http://art.gnome.org/themes/gtk2/567 - Milk 2.0 (also beautiful, but has display bugs on progress bars)
You can also find OS X GDM themes there if you want.

I got the theme and the wallpaper. But what about the fancy toolbar in OSX? I don't have the time ( nor the knowledge :) ) to make one. So any readymade ones available?

I just downloaded rpanther2 (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=14742) and an icon theme (not sure where I got it though) and I put them together along with the OSX aqua background... Then I deleted the bottom bar and put the window list on the top and made a new bar on the bottom. Make it quite big and put application launchers on it. Set it to not expand and make it transparent... Not perfect though.

apt-get install gdesklets
search therein for the gnome tool bar, and set it up.

To me the gnome starter bar on gdesklets isnt very good... Just my opinion. It looks nothing like the OSX bar, though I doubt it in intended to.

The closest I've seen in the linux world to the OS X Dockbar is 'engage' which is the dockbar for Enlightenment DR17. http://www.get-e.org has some more info on it.
