[SOLVED] A bit of doubt

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=626559 is a rather confusing thread for me, not in terms of what needs to be done, but in terms of what it is done for.

I realise that this forum respects the privacy of others and encourages it's members to do so and frowns upon actions or intentions that go against that rule.

I just want to know, is it ok if I try and help the person in the thread I gave at the top of my post or would it be deemed an infringement of forum rules?

So I guess that there are situations where no one can be sure so the best option would be to take the closest and most likely verdict.
