is it worth getting the latest beta 2.0 over 1.0.4 ?
while downloading the beta, it asks a long list of questions about yourself and the company, but it does not ask anything for the older version. What's that about?
Is 2.0 worth the effort ?
I want to be able to run 32 bit and 64 bit guest OS'es on my 64 bit host (Ubuntu)

I believe your referring to player and the difference is this... Virtual machines created using workstation 6 won't play on the 1.4 version... They would require you to use 2.0 player... With that said; machines created on workstation 6 using the default settings won't play on their free server version either...
So, in a nut-shell VMware is in a transition between older products and newer products...

No I was actually referring to the VMware Server 2.0 and VMware Server 1.0.4
Sorry for not being clear earlier.

take this with a grain of salt but since server 2 is beta I had some trouble running vm in the new web ui. The older version does not have the web ui but is stable.
