Ubuntu installed a generic version of a radeon driver for my card, which isnt accelerated. Is there 64bit ATI driver out there for Ubuntu? cos I seriously need acceleration for my games and stuff. I couldnt get a suitable fglrx package either with apt-get. Whats the issue ? Does ATI support 64bit linux yet, or are they slacking?

ATi has been getting better w/ their Linux drivers, but the 32-bit drivers aren't even up to par w/ the Windows Catalyst drivers. And they have not released AMD64 drivers yet. According to <a href="http://www.rage3d.com>Rage3D</a>, ATi should be releasing their next Linux release next month - and AMD64-compatible drivers should be in that release.

So cross your fingers (unless you wanna upgrade to a GeForce 6600/6800 card).
