I'm running the latest Ubuntu livecd, and using gcc (installed by aptitude install build-essential).
When a program I've compiled crashes it displays a "core dumped" message. However I cannot find the core file anywhere.
I realize that there are several other threads about this, and the only advice I managed to get from them was to set ulimit -c unlimited. (This worked for me in the past, on a desktop install).
Anyway now I do not have any Ubuntu box -- I'm just using the livecd. I've set ulimit -c to unlimited, but still no core file.
Any suggestions?
