View Full Version : Sound Volume Control

In Fiesty (I use Gnome), my volume control was very smooth when either clicking on the speaker and using the slider or when using my keyboard shortcuts.

In Gutsy, the keyboard shortcuts turn my sound on or off (with nothing between). I've tried assigning other key combinations but get the same results.
.....and when I click on the speaker to use the slider, I have to be careful where I let it go.... because as I slide it up and down, it alternates between a percentage number and 'Muted'.

I'm on a Compac Presario 2107us laptop. My sound card is:
ALi Corporation
M5451 PCI AC-Link Controller Audio Device

By the way, my sound works.... it's just that the control of playback volume is flaky.

What can I do to clear this up?

Thanks! :)
El

are you talking about the little 'volume up', 'volume down', and 'mute' buttons that appear above the keybord next to the power button (the one touch buttons) or are you talking about some programmed in volume-up/down keyboard shortcut?

if it's the first then I'd look for a launchpad bug with your symptoms with that controller and file away. if you can't find one, file one.

Actually, it's both......
the built-in buttons on the left side toward the front and also the Fn-PageUp/Fn-PageDn keys (these are the special keys that blue on the keyboard).
