Just found this new game, well not actually new, made around 2000 or 2001, and is a bit like Age of Empires, but it focuses around the Aztec period and you preparing for the Spanish invasion 100 years later. It is pretty much in Hungarian, but I found English patches, and best of all, Linux binaries! So just asking if anyone heard of this game?

Hello,

(I hope you still look at this thread sometimes)

Well, I remember that game. I saw it in a game magazine, and I think I played with the demo, and found it a bit hard (I was only 11 at that time).

If you need any information about the game but you find only Hungarian pages, I could translate them for you.

Nah it's okay, found an english patch online :) Pretty hard, yup, but I like it.

Haha
I remember Theocracy.
I remember it being damn hard but far more satisfying than other RTSs I've played.
I'd really like to know where you found those binaries if you still check this thread.

Yeah, I want to know that too.

I thought it was free... pricewise, I mean, because of the direction this discussion was heading in. I thought the company had released the original game for free. Some companies do that with their old games/softwares these days.

Correct.
Theocracy can still be purchased at tuxgames.com if someone want to play it.

Where did you get the patch? I think it's the missing part. Installation was no problem but the game doesn't start... :( Have you edited the starter too?

Aborted (core dumped)
Execution of /usr/games/theocracy_base/theocracy.real failed!

Edit: Solved it by editing ~/.theocracy/mvos.cfg:
[game]
language=german

Intro has started: If there occur any problems I'll post again ;)

I get the same error and editing the mvos.cfg file didn't help. I googled the error and the results show only this thread and 2 other sites, which are in german. So could anyone read them and tell me if they actually offer a solution?

I know - it's an old Thread. The first post is written in german but doesn't contain a solution. You'll get informations at http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Spiele/Theocracy - use translate.google.com (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwiki.ubuntuusers.de%2FSpi ele%2FTheocracy&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&sl=de&tl=en) to find your informations :) I didn't manage to install it under Intrepid so you couldn't find new informations. But I'll try and you'll find (probably) a solution there within the next weeks. If you've got a solution post it here ;)
