video capture hellp

hiya. i just got an ads dvdxpress dx2 for video capture. i've heard some people had success with it, but i get confused in the steps. i dont even know of a nice app for video capture in linux. so, can u help me out -my shift keys dont work-

Generally tv recording programs can record from video inputs on your card, so try searching for those. Mythtv would work but that might be overkill for what you want.

i find that the lavrec command works best for analog capture.
