I finally got Serious Sam FE installed, but it is not working with my gamepad in Linux. I see in the game that it does support joysticks. I tried to give controls gamepad buttons, but that didn't work. My gamepad works just fine in zsnes, so why not in this game? I've tried jscalibrator.

I'd say it's because the game is old and not updated to use them?

Wrong, I said, "I see in the game that it does support joysticks." in the options menu, but I am unable to configure. Is there a guide to gamepads in Linux?

Get rid of jscalibrator, go_beep_yourself. It has a tendency to disable the directional pads/buttons/sticks in controllers, although they still appear to read in jscalibrator.
