how do you make iso / mdf images of cd/dvds in ubuntu 7.10...

do i have to install any new software??

another thing is that.... does ubuntu have any software to burn discs like nero on windows??

you can get nero4linux, also k3b is another option, you can get using synaptic
check google for nero 4 linux. although you have less optios than normal nero.

The easiest one for burning images would be Brasero (using it myself)
There's also GnomeBaker.

Just open up Add/Remove Applications and search for burn

And Nero is available for Linux. The latest version is said to be pretty good.
