Please read all of this - I need ubuntu Audio drivers for Amd - Gateway- Windows xp/Laptop /ATI IXP AC97 high definition audio drivers. I wouldnt ask if I hadnt already looked for them, i've looked literally everywhere i can think of, any website that has the word "drivers" i've looked there. Well.. a long time ago, I installed this program called "Your Uninstaller" i ran the option called "Delete or rename 2 or more files that have the same name" it deleted my drivers, and most of the system 32 files, when i system restored, it wouldnt read my secondary hard drive,my ethernet drivers, my broadcom wireless, or my Audio. I really hate to bother you, but.. is there a way i could get the drivers i need from here? I contacted gateway many times, they tell me there's nothing they can do, and i'd have to buy a cd for 100$ I would buy it.. however.. i'm 17 and am broke. If anyone can help, thank you so much. ( =
I've been looking for these drivers for.. about 2 years. The reason i chose Ubuntu forums, is because, when I installed Ubuntu, the sound worked!.. but.. i need the drivers for Windows XP. and I can't find the drivers anywhere else and am out of options. Please Respond.

have you looked on your manufacturers website or on any disks that came with your laptop?

The fix is simple get rid of windows LOL. Actually the AC97 files are part of the windows core system. Kinda hard for me to remember but i think you can get them from the microsoft windows site. if not your only other option is reinstall windows unless you had recovery console installed which will to a fix from your original CD
