How cool is that, CCP releases a Linux and Mac client for Eve Online!

Mac and Linux Client: Now available

EVE Online has now been released as both a Mac and Linux client, and we'd love to hear what you think of our efforts. If you want to jump right in, head to our download page and get the client of your choice.


Linux:

Minimum Requirements

* 32 or 64 bit Ubuntu 7.04 or higher, Linspire 6 or higher, OpenSuSE 10.2 or higher
* 64 MB GeForce FX class card or better
* 512 MB of RAM
* 6 GB of HD Space
* 1.1 GHz CPU

Recommended System Requirements

* 32-Bit Ubuntu, OpenSuSE, Linspire with a GeForce 6XXX series card or better
* 1.5 GHz CPU or better
* 1 GB of RAM
* Alsa supported soundcard

Kernel

* Kernel 2.6.20 or newer
* XFree86 4.0 or higher (4.3 is recommended) or the latest Xorg release

OpenSuSE Dependencies:

# python >= 2.4
# python-gtk >= 2.6
# gtk2 >= 2.6
# wget
# dbus-1-python

Ubuntu/Linspire Dependencies

* ibc6 (>= 2.2.4-4)
* xlibmesa3 | libgl1
* python (>= 2.4)
* python2.4-dbus
* python-gtk2 (>= 2.6)
* python-glade2, wget

It is a pitty i get the black screen when it loads up :(

In the config utility turn everything down, see if it loads. Then turn everything on one at a time and load the game, see what's causing the black screen.

It's usually, HDR, Bloom, or Pixel Shader version not compatible with graphics card. HDR will cause a black screen for me in games like Oblivion.

I've just downloaded and tried this.....all i get when i open it is 2 windows, one of which is blank and the other has the splashscreen. But then they both close :confused:

Any ideas?
