Hi all. I'm relatively new to Ubuntu/Linux, but I wondered if you might be able to help me with a small issue.

I have an HP ZT3000 notebook with an ATi 9200 and Maple 11 installed. Upon starting Maple, I have to switch the appearance of Gnome to "basic" in order to view my Maple documents otherwise I get a blank window (see linked picture). Once I switch to "basic" I can switch back and everything works just fine (I can see my document). I'm running the Ubuntu version of the ATi drivers and Java 6 is installed (if that makes a difference.

I wondered if someone might have a quick tip to make it to where I don't have to go through this process everytime I start Maple.

Thanks for your help.

Okay, found that too... but I can't seem to get into that directory in the terminal. I have it under /root/ and I don't know how to get there in the terminal.

Actually, I got to the /root/Maple11/bin/ directory, but now it's not showing that it recognizes the command.
