90x90 is pretty small and i find it difficult to even make the image clear enough. 150x150 would be perfect, but 120x120 would certainly work 90% of the time. even 100x100 would be better. not a big issue. just thought i'd ask.

I'm sorry, I don't think we will be making them larger. 90x90 isn't bad...the vBulletin default is 80x80. You can go up to 100x100 for your profile pic, but that's probably not much comfort when a bigger av is the real goal.
Hey, is that you in your av?

The individual in the av looks female and we have already established that fuscia is male I think. There was some long thread about 'his' avatar some time back.
Then again this is the internet and nothing is certain :)

Tell ya what, Fuscia, if you send me some fiber-optic cables so I can directly wire from terabit downstairs to my room, then that should offset the bandwidth lag of larger avatars and we'll talk :)

Hey! I do that!
But more seriously, I think an avatar size increase reduces already limited screen estate and bloats what is IMO already too large of a page download size per thread. Any more down this path and we'd be the new Launchpad when it comes to load times and it'll make the forums less usable.
