screen resolution

hi, im using virtualbox on a vista host.
i cant get my screen resolution larfer than 800X600. its really frustrating. i installed the guest additions. it didnt help.
when i try anything but the 800X600 my screen goes crazy (even at a lower resolution).
any help would be appriciated... :)

forgot to mention: im using an hp laptop and the guest is ubuntu 7.1.

So when you make the virtualbox window fullsize, and go to system - preferences - screen resolution, that's the highest you get?

yes, thats the highest resolution i get

I don't know then, sorry. I suspect this is a virtualbox issue - it may not be reporting your monitor information right. Did you try posting on virtualbox forums?
