Hey. I love linux, and love gaming, but on my computer those two things don't mix. I have a very nice computer, nVidia 6600, AMD 64 3000+ (x86 linux though), 512 MB ram.
Whenever I try to run a game that uses 3D It runs for about 5 minutes, then stutters and freezes. This has been happening since I reformatted in early august from my first installation (Ubuntu, Gnome since May and KDE since July) where I could play 3D games perfectly. I installed the 3d crap (drivers) under Gnome then, and used them to play Quake 2. However, my last reformat and the one i just did (about 2 hours ago) I installed the drivers under KDE. Both times, I had to edit xorg.conf to change drivers from "nv" to "nvidia" so i could use 3D. I don't have many eye-candy effects, only translucent panels. And I don't multitask on this computer too much, and I only run the game when gaming. But whenever I run Neverball or Nexuiz my computer stutters and freezes as I have said earlier.
I do not know why... This really pisses me off, I can't play anything more graphically extensive than Wesnoth or Doom II. ](*,)
