Im an Ubuntu user but thought I would have a play round with Sabayon as ive used it before and quite liked the look of it. thought I might have both running on dual boot.

Problem is, ive tried a live CD I got off the front of Linux Magazine which starts to boot, says its loaded the Linux Kernel and then I get a screen with the word Sabayon in large red lettering, and a red progress bar directly underneath which sticks at what I think looks to be about 20%. the words Booting Sabyayon Linux are directly underneath but it just sits there and does absolutely nothing after that. Ive left it on for hours and its the same.

Thinking it may be a problem with the cover disc, I downloaded the image and burned it to a DVD from the Sabayon website. Version 3.4f (the normal one, not the AMD64 one) and it does exactly the same. All the Ubuntu live CDs work perfectly ok so I dont think its a problem with my comp.

My cmoputer is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo PA1510 with 1gb of ram and a built in ATI radeon. Anyone else having the same problems or have any idea whether its just this version?

The problem could be kernel specific. Might have to add a few switches at bootup. Best to check the Sabayon forum or IRC channel.

I have not experienced this yet.

i have been trying to get sabayon pro to install on my pc, but everytime it freezes at 74.9% done during install. i dont think there is anything that can be done about our issues. some distros play nice, some dont.

Having had a play with it, ive discovered that if you select the option to start-up without music (from the first menu) and then use alt+f1 to use verbose mode you can see when it stops and just keep tapping the enter key whenever it stops. I actually got it to boot into the live CD environment last night after a lot of messing about. Had the same issues on my main PC though once in the Live CD environment, I installed it to the hard drive and it boots perfectly ok from there. It looks very nice - although I will be sticking to Ubuntu as my OS of choice, its the best!! Do like messing with other OS's though :guitar:

Not sure if there is a correlation or not? It probably is just coincidental.
