NVClock is a small utility that allows users to overclock NVIDIA based video cards running on the Linux platform.

Today, the developers of NVClock announced a new release. Version 0.8(beta)

* Hardware monitoring (including temperature reading, fanspeed adjustments)
* I2C backend for W83L785R/MAX6659/LM99/F75375S sensors

* bility to enable disabled temperature sensors used on NV43/NV44/NV47 boards
* NV-CONTROL backend for adjusting OpenGL/Display settings

Exactly what I was thinking, I read the reviews/screenshots over at Phoronix, pretty much nvidia-settings in another form. Would have been nice say 6 months ago, but now it's more than pointless.

Still, kudos to the dev who managed it. I used to use it back in the days before cool bits and it was always very good :)

Coolbits is only supported on newer cards (which really don't need to be overclocked :p ). But with NVclock you can overclock your trustworthy Geforce4 for example.
