Last time I checked, focusing on them with a lens in bright sunlight can cause pretty patterns on the disc...
Also, they make very shiny coffee coasters...

That pic reminds me of those cone collars you put on dogs to prevent them from licking themselves.

I use the chiny pretty CDs for decoration.

I have to say: I'm patent clerk (*dodges brickbats*) and I wish that all inventors had drawings this good. the number of headaches I have trying to get better art frmo these guys...ugh!

You paid all those bucks, of course it can do something useful? How else would I have a nice shiny coaster, shiny on both ends? And it makes noises when played backwards.. cool..

I actually saw my first software patent the other day.

While it's pretty easy for me to see the use of patents for other things--most of the work I see is chemcial processes & electronic circuits--but software, I'm not so sure about these days.

Don't let it scare you, devs. If you get your stuff out there and adopted and someone tries to patent you, their patent is easily invalidated on prior art grounds.
