Hello Ubuntu Forums,

I use to play Ijji GunZ (http://gunz.ijji.com) when I had Windows.

I realized in my mind that Ijji GunZ won't work on Linux due to Linux doesn't have Window's Internet Explorer

I tried installing it anyway to see if its possible(game works on the browser) and it installed fine(using WINE). The problem is, I can't play it because I do not have Internet Explorer(Ijji Error Page said "This Game and all of other Ijji Games work with Internet Explorer)

My question is this:

Is there anyway to get Internet Explorer or a Web Browser with similiar features as IE so that I could play this game?

Thanks for support and people who read this!

Not sure if you can play the game or not but you can run internet explorer through WINE.

I -think- you might be able to get that working with Automatix www.getautomatix.com (USUALLY I would say to NOT use Automatix but if you're new to linux, it can show you what's available to you)

Lots of windows programs work with wine, and you can get that easily through synaptic, or by typing

sudo apt-get install wine

in the terminal, then typing

winecfg

and setting it to Win XP or Vista or whatever

As for Gunz, however, I do not think that there is any way to play it in Linux (and oh how I have tried). It's really not Internet explorer that's the problem, it's that the installer loads an anti-cheating monitor along with the program for Gunz when it loads, and that won't let you into the game client unless you are running Windows. As a matter of fact, Gunz does work with Firefox, just only in Windows :(

Sorry to disappoint, but I will continue to look for a solution. In the meantime, you might want to ask a mod over at the ijji forums when they will fix this problem. Maybe if enough people complain...
