Hey,
I'm a noob_CS_Student. How do you you insert a power higher than 3 into my Open Office document (I'm using 2.0.3) I want to write 2 to the 7th power in the correct format)
Thanks in advance

Use the Superscript character formatting. There's also Insert, Object, Formula for more extensive math.

It might seem a bit off-topic, but I would suggest using LaTeX if you are going to write reports. LyX (http://www.lyx.org) is a rather good interface from which you can export to a number of formats, such as pdf, dvi, ps.
It uses a different paradigm (WYSIWYM) to office suites, but once you get to it, it is in my opinion much faster and convinient for writing formulae and reports in general.
