Ok so I got a new laptop (HP Pavilion dv2617us) and it runs quite well with Ubuntu 7.10. The only problem lies with compiz-fusion.

It tells me that it cannot start compiz.

I asked for help on this forum and was told to comment out a line on /usr/bin/compiz (Line 60 to be exact) which lists blacklisted graphics cards and it worked!! (HURRAY!!! )

But every now and then it freezes right after I enter the login information after I turn on the PC.

Is there any way to get around this??

Thanks

PS:
Here is some info on the PC
