I just installed Linux Mint and it ROCKS! I am liking the look and feel and the ability to install different themes.

One concern I have is... firestarter shows multiple blocked events - service is unknown, like someone is attempting to crack my machine. At first I thought it was samba cupsys, but now becoming more paranoid. I realize that these are all blocked, but how is my IP being broadcasted if ICMP is disabled.

I don't have this problem with Ubuntu...

open to suggestions, or opinions

let me know if you have any problems with blocked attempts with the service Sun-RPC protocol...

Thanks!

I'm using mint, i like what it is, but essentially, it's just a repackaged feisty with a few addons that's nice to have.

I like the mint start menu, i like the hassles it saves me from installing codecs etc.

but ultimately, Mint IS ubuntu. So I wouldn't really compare it against ubuntu. What you can achieve with mint, you can also do with ubuntu, all you had to do is add their repos and install their packages.

Themes and eye-candies are similar all across linux anyway, it's not really that important, but I do like their artwork tho, lol.

I love these forums.
BTW, Mint's Art is great, and I like their Bea theme.

I know that this is a distro of ubuntu.
There are more system changes than just the "eye candy" example: network manager and Samba (Enabled) as default... so you can't tell me it's a repackaged feisty. There is more to it than that.
