How in the world do you "Back up" a file on Ubuntu

I don't think its that simple if it was that then why do I have this post up here?
What I want to do is "back-up" halo.exe in wine and put in the "no-cd" version so the game dosen't crash or screw up

If you copy and paste the file to a new location then you are backing it up... So if something goes wrong you still ave that new copy...

Good question. It is that simple, for the information you gave us in the OP.
What I want to do is "back-up" halo.exe in wine and put in the "no-cd" version so the game dosen't crash or screw up
You can backup just the halo.exe file (by copy and pasting, no less!), or you can backup the entire Halo folder just in case. Either way, copy and paste will work just fine.
