View Full Version : [SOLVED] Linux equivalent to Jasc's "Animation Shop"?

I've scoured the forums here, and the web in general, and still haven't found an ACCEPTABLE Linux replacement for the windoze program called Animation Shop. (I believe it's included when you buy Paint Shop Pro.) Every GIF tutorial, or GIF software suggestion, I've seen for Linux leaves a lot to be desired. I don't want simple animations that only replace one image with the next one. I need transition effects such as the attached GIFs have. I don't care if it's GUI or CLI, as long as it can produce animated GIFs with nifty effects. Is there such a program?

I've been looking for a program like that too.

Not sure if this is what you need but try "Gifsicle" I've heard that's a decent GIF making program.

Or GIMP with the GAP package?

Or GIMP with the GAP package?I had tried that some time back, and for some reason I either couldn't make it do what I wanted or I didn't like using it. But I just tried again and it really doesn't seem that awful! Here's an image I made by following these instructions (http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/1664.html), and although it's not the type of animation I was referring to, it shows me that I'll be able to make it work. Now I'll just have to figure out how to use individual images as frames (layers?), and go from there.
