To whomever God chooses, being infinite and undefinable gives you that ability.

I highly doubt the Linux installer would somehow be forgotten. Epic's been good to it's comunity of faithful Linux gamers, and they spent so much cash to get it runing platform independent, they'd be pretty stupid not to actually take advantage of it. Also, since Vista, being the thud heard 'round the world and all, is cripeling OpenGL, removing all the features that had once seperated Longhorn from XP, and going to suck even more than XPhischerprice, more people are going to go the way of desktop Linux, and a lot of companies are gonna be in trouble because they had already made their game completely windows specific, depending on the DirectX API and everything.

The one thing I find problematic is that UT2007 is going to take advantage of Pixel Shader Model 3, and it's DirectX exclusive. It just wouldn't look the same on Linux as it would on Winblows, unless there's some way of hacking this ability into OpenGL, and the OpenGL renderer the game ships with. I was so let down when I finaly figured out that PSM3 was DX exclusive.

UT2K7 taking advantage of a platform exclusive technology wont limit the game from being released in other platforms. UT2K4 didnt have personalized license plates on the vehicles until recently (I think it's still in beta stage). ;)
I'm quite positive UT2K7 will be available in mac, linux and windows. ID future games will also be multiplatform. But dont expect EA games releasing their games as multiplatform, they're MS lovers, just like valve.

It's already been confirmed for Linux, Windows, PS3. As for Mac, it hasn't been confirmed yet, or the last timed i checked. It will also take advantage of 64bit processors.

I'm not doubting the fact that it's being released multiplatform, I just don't want to shell out for a brand new 7800GTX when I can't even take full advantage of PSM3 to make it look a hundred times better. If the windows version looks better than the Linux version, which one do you think most users new to Linux are going to play?

Also, I thing I remember hearing Steve say PS3 was going to take advantage of PSM3? Did I hear right? I'm gonna have to go watch those video's again, because IIRC, and CMIIW, but isn't PS3 using OpenGL for all of it's rendering? Am I imagining things? Missinformed? Confused? Sleepy? D: All of the above? There's no way MS is gonna let Sony use their technology to compete with them, and there's no way anybody comparing the PS3 version to the Windows/XBox version would still buy the PS3 version unless theid already shelled out all their cash for the PS3 itself.

I'm so damn confused. Somebody please file a bugreport for my brain, it seems to be disfunctioning ATM.

you kn0ow that shader model 3 doesn't atchully look better than model 2, it's faster and i belive more can be done at once, but by 2007, i'm sure opengl will have made equal strides.
