Yes, this error started yesterday since the game is being updated to version 1.2. Those windows users had a 1,5 hour downtime and the time it out to put out a linux patch would take "a few days" :rolleyes:

Anyway, luckily it isn't this anymore and the patch is out. Download it from

In the next 1.2 patch for Linux, voip will be added.

so is the 1.2 patch out for linux? or are we still waiting for it.

Also, will the patch auto install/update from the game, or do I need to install it manually?

And is quake wars essentially broken for the next few days until the patch comes out?

The first version of the 1.2 patch is out. The only thing that it dosen't have is VOIP. in other words, you can still play but you can't chatter :)

The torrent listed above works. Oh, and I installed it manually, I assumed the in-game updater dosen't work...

it worked i am now able to play online games :) woot
