Except Java, firefox cannot be installed either.

Is there any problems in the official backports?

:-)

Yes, it looks like some packages have been pulled, firefox, amarok, j2sdk and a couple others show up as (local or obsolete) in Synaptic. Either there is a problem with the packages or you'll have to wait until they're back.

There hasn't been any info from the Backport devs posted here in quite a while so I can't guess what may be currently going on, last i knew there were a lot of packages that hadn't been moved from the old repos to the new official ones.

Wow, it's sad to hear this. I haven't been here for a while either, but i really hope this can be fix as soon as possible. i guess maybe the backport devs are busy recently, so all we can do is to wait.
