To get my multi monitor setup to work I got a copy of my colleague's xorg.conf. He's running the exact same config (same laptop, same secondary screen, same Ubuntu 7.10). And after a reboot multi monitor works perfectly!

But.. since then my desktop background is broken. It remains black, whatever I do. Only switching back to "None" in "VIsual Effects" helps me getting back my desktop background, so I assume it's something with Compiz. The rest of the theme settings still work, it's only the desktop background...

I already tried to:
- reboot
- find something in ~/.gconf
- ask co-workers

Hope anyone can help me out!

I've been working with my "black background" for some hours now. I think the background is not "just black", I think there is no background at all. Like a black hole. Maybe this rings a bell for some of you?
