I'm sure there are some threads about this, but nothing seemed to work in the search...

I installed compiz and the compiz-fusion packages from the repos, and I've messed with everything in the advanced settings tab, but I can't seem to figure out how to change my window decoraiton.

It is no longer using my gtk theme, but instead reverted to an old emerald theme I had installed back when running Beryl (a long time ago).

Any help?

Do you want to change the Emerald theme or the decorator itself?

edit: do you have Emerald installed at all?

Well, I searched synaptic for emerald, and yes, I do still have emerald installed.

I do want to use emerald, as I want to make my gui resemble vista, for the sake of consistency across machines (have vista on another machine).

Then download any theme you like, open System → Preferences → Emerald Theme Manager and import it.

Hi there,

I have compiz and have installed emerald, imported a theme, but I cannot change to it.
From memory in Beryl you just clicked on the theme in the the theme manager.

Any ideas, Steve.

Have sorted it now, had a dumb moment!!!

System -- Preferences -- Advanced Desktop Effects Settings -- then simply enable window decoration
