Can either of these be used to run windows based games of a windows partition. Like if I have it already installed on a windows partition and want to run it under Ubuntu.

How would one go about doing that?

It can be done by going there with a terminal and typing wine or cedega + the name of the game's exe file..
However, it is best you install under Wine or Cedega. Otherwise, you won't even have access to saved game files..

Not for all games, but a good majority.. especially games that make use of the Registry. For instance, if you have Jedi Academy (A Quake 3 engine game) installed on a Windows partition, doing a "cedega ./jamp.exe" will work fine without any tweakery.
But, the same can't be said for some games. For instance, Planescape: Torment was unable to play off my Win partition, but when I installed it inside Linux.. it worked. Its all registry. Your mileage will vary.

So here is what I have...
I have the game on CD. Pop it into the CDROM. But it is for XP, so it won't run and the setup won't work as well. Its already installed in windows partition. It won't run from there either. What do I do?

Not to hijack the post but what if I remote mount the drive where the windows game is installed and run it over the network? Do you think that will work? Does it make sense what I want to do? Thanks
btw I am loving my new ubuntu installation and the usefullness of these forums ;-)
