As a programming instructor, what can I contribute to the development of Linux?

Linux or Ubuntu?

Linux is the actual kernel that Ubuntu is built on (www.kernel.org).

If you want to help contributing to Ubuntu, a good place to start is http://launchpad.net/ubuntu . You need to create a launchpad account and then you can get yourself into a specific team (ie: Kernel Dev team, Artwork team, etc) and you'll find plenty of stuff you can do!

I'm sorry but I should have been more specific. I would like to contribute to Ubuntu Development.

BTW, we are trying to promote Open Source Technology in our school(college), using Ubuntu as our operating system. How can we be a part of Ubuntu(Operating System and Applications)Development?

perhaps one of the first questions are, what do you know in development?

what specific languages and area in the development field?
