View Full Version : Persistent Error Message

Whenever I try to do any upgrading (whether with Synaptic or through the Terminal), I get the following error message:

W: Couldn't stat source package list http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hoary/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_hoary_main_bina ry-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)

It doesn't seem to prevent the upgrading or downloading, but it is a pain in the butt. I'm guessing it's an easy fix, but I'm a total noob so I don't know where to fix it.

Anyone able to help?

What does your current /etc/apt/sources.list file contain? From the looks of the error message, you probably have one of the entries misconfigured or outdated.

Your sources.list looks good. From the terminal if you do an `apt-get update` (as root or using sudo), do you get any errors while the package lists are being downloaded?

Dang, I saw that there were new replies and I got all jazzed - then it seems it's just others with my problem! LOL

We should make a pact to tell the others what the solution is, if we ever find out ourselves...
