I am new to Linux so I may not understand a lot of what people have to say about helping me. Please bear with me. But I am getting an error displaying "DEFAULT CATCH!, code=300" and some other stuff proceeding it and it is scrolling along my screen. I installed Ubuntu on an old iMac 333 MHz. upgraded it from a four GB HDD to a 20 GB one. I do not know how to get rid of this message except to restart the computer in which case it just loops back to the same issue.

Please help.

Ah, this default catch may be related to what I've been reading about an 8Gb partition limitation (obviously with a 20gb drive it would have more than one partition in use).

When you upgraded the hard drive, the limitation was broken, and now default-catch shows up.

Maybe you can find a firmware update to get past this, or you'll have to manually partition the drive with an 7.5GB limitation (just to be safe) in one of the partitions - I'm not familiar with it, so I'm just feeding back some googling....

Update - check this notice out from apple:
