There is an official backports source for Hoary now...from Ubuntu:

I got FF-1.06 from this source and some other thing.
Do u have used sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude upgrade

Firefox 1.0.6 was backported almost a month ago, though. :)

I obviously don't know for sure, but I'm guessing jdong is busy with some other projects as he has only posted to the Ubuntu forums a handful of times in the last 3 weeks or so, whereas before that it was a few posts per day.
I keep very close tabs on him, as you can see ;)

jdong's been playing with opensuse lately. I hope this doesn't mean his support of backports will fade away.
Backports is one of the best things about Ubuntu.

Yes, it seems like since it went "official" it has slowed down quite a bit, probably due to the restrictions that come with being "official".
As a side note, I did get some backport updates this weekend, mainly to Gnome Office 'Planner' however they are uninstallable due to the wrong version of some library that I can't recall at the moment. It was late last night and I usually give problems like that a couple days to see if they get fixed.
