Hi everybody!!!

I been a Ubuntu user for the last month this is my first post on the forum but I been visiting the forum for the 6 months or so.

After reading on the forum that linux users were able to install and play RTWC on linux I decided to give it a try and luckily it worked but the problem is that I cannot start or play a new game. When I start the game, it allows me to get to the main menu and change the options and stuff like that but when I click on Play and choose the type of game it tries to load but then it cuts off and sends me back to the desktop.

I have tried to run the game using root (even if it's dangerous but I thought that it was a read/write issue, which I don't think it is.)

Also, I tried to check whether I was able to check whether any sound was able to come out from the game but I couldn't heard any sort of background noice on the menu or when it's loading, I dunno whether it's like that or there's an error with the configuration.

Could you please help? I really want to play this game but I can't at the moment :-(

Btw, my pc stats is:
Pentium Celeron D 2.4ghz
MSI P4MAM-L Motherboard
512 MB RAM
160GB HDD
Ubuntu Hoary 5.04

Open terminal and run the game from there. When it crashes the terminal should give some clue as to why. Post the last few lines here. Also, what are some system specs. Vid card and drivers? Have you run any other 3d games yet?

I tried to run the game from the command and the same error happened and it gave me this:

r_rmse of 0.000000 has saved 852kb
LOADING... - game media done
LOADING... flamechunks
LOADING... clients
LOADING... WolfPlayer
UI menu load time = 6 milli seconds
Received signal 11, exiting...
Shutdown tty console

I'll post the specs again:

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce4 MX 440 AGP8x 128MB RAM
Driver: NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7676
Processor: Pentium Celeron D 2.4ghz
Motherboard: MSI P4MAM-L Motherboard
Memory: 512 MB RAM
HDD: 160GB HDD
OS: Ubuntu Hoary 5.04

I haven't tried to install or play any games on linux before I installing RTCW.

Sorry I looked back and saw your specs posted. I must be really tired.

Anyhow, before I go to bed. Have you tried seaching the forums and Google for signal 11 errors? I may be wrong, again I am sleepy and not thinking straight, but I think the signal 11 was a sound issue.
I'll look around a bit tomorrow if I get the chance.

Thanks for your help but I found a solution for this.. well the problem was with the sound.. it needed a program to run or something like that..

A quick question without starting a new thread.
When I play, my fire button just seems to switch who i follow and i can't get out of it.
I then can sit back and watch as the game plays itself.

How do i regain control, so i can run and shoot?

Thanks

I have the Return to Castle Woflenstein platinum edition that I used to play in Windows when I was stoopid, now running WINE on Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, when it asks for the second cd, I can't eject the first cd to complete the installation. Anyone know how to get around this?
