well I'm pretty sure this goes here...

I'm using KDE and I have a copy of AutoDesk Maya, a 3d package. It works pretty well short of a few unexplained spontaneous crashes though those I can deal with. I think the UI of the application is absolutely hideous under linux and I'd like to change it to something similar to the windows counter part.

from what I can see. under linux, Maya uses an SGI “widget” theme for its UI which I really don't like. I have poked around a bit threw the windows settings and found a theme which looks pretty close to the windows counterpart as far as general details though they don't seem to apply to Maya.

I'de like to know if anyone has changed their themes in regards to maya and if so if you can help me do the same.

Well as I know (not 100% sure) I don't think that it is possible.
They are using this Motif theme from SGI/Irix for which Maya is firstly made. It is much stable then on other platforms this way, and very old though.
There are some libraries from Qt which allow developers to port their software from Motif, but this will be, MAYBE, done one day.
I used a lot Maya on Win and when I switch to Ubuntu must say that Maya is much more stable and bug free then Win version.

yeah I used Maya on an SGI box back in the day. I really hated it back then too. hopefully they will release librarys to change the widgets to a global system preference... some day *sigh* ^^;
