View Full Version : AMSN opening windows?

AMSN seems to open chat windows from time to time without a chat message. All i see is that the person for whom the window was opened has signed into the discussion and(usually) that the person signed off after a few seconds.
Can anyone tell me what this means? Do these people click on my name only to decide that they do not want to talk to me and close the window again? Or is it some 'error'?

Why don't you ask those people?

That's exactly it. The window is created as soon as another client makes a connection to your computer which happens as soon as they double click on your name.
If you're quick enough, you can beat them to the greeting. They'll think it's uncanny.

Most will say no, but its the only explanation i can think of.
Besides, i have tried from my sister account and it seems to work(most of the time, some times not).
If its really that, this'll be funny....
EDIT: I've tested alot more and have noticed that amsn can pick up the closing of the chat window. But it doesn't always seem to open the window. In fact, if it really is the making connection with my computer(and amsn always reacts to this) than there must be something else, because i just tried to replicate it about 30 times and it didn't work.

So they are in denial, or maybe their clients sometime make connections without any user action triggering it.
Lol yeah it could be funny to act like a jedi.
Maybe the connection is made when they start to type instead of when they open the window?

But it doesn't always seem to open the window.
I think it might have to do with trying to retrieve an MSN picture.

The windows are opening, but i'm sure (many times) that nobody has open the conversation, actually me and my flatmate were testing it.
Anybody knows why, and how to fix it??

I believe it was ... Extra --> Options --> Session tab --> In the "incoming messages" field put the first option to "hide".
I use the dutch translations so some things may have a different name.
