So today, I dug out an old lappie that I thought was toast. The sound didnt work, and I thought the processor was shot (Windows XP took over an HOUR to boot). Just for fun, I wiped the hard drive and decided to put 7.10.. I ran the LiveCD expecting problems and low and behold, THE SOUND WORKS!!!!!!
Im installing right now, and it seems to be moving along at a decent speed. The problems it had before came on instantly, so I thought it was hardware.
System stats are 1GB ram, AMD Turion 64, 80GB 4800rpm (yuck), a broadcom card (yuck), and an ATI radeon xpress 200m (yuck). Ill finally be able to experience the issues with hardware that most people have hell with, so I can in turn help others with the issues. Its not anywhere near my main lappie listed in my sig, but its a cool beater to have as a backup.
Ive decided to keep pure Gnome Ubuntu on this one, so now ill have both Gnome and KDE :guitar:
Im happy; I feel like I just ressurected the dead... all hail Linux.
