I think it needs a little work, but I like where your head's at. I appreciate any effort to improve upon splash screens, and right now the OpenOffice one is just kind of...boring. I think with a little work though, yours could be awesome, and especially with the orange and black of Hardy Heron.

Thanks! I am no graphics artist, yet, but I am trying to improve the look of Ubuntu. Ubuntu's default artwork is pretty bad!

Thanks again for the comments.

Also, I have a Gimp splash that matches the OpenOffice splash perfectly except it is for Gimp 2.3. I have experimented with removing the version number but I can still see a smudge in the splash. I have a post about how to use liquid resizer in Gimp to resolve this but so far no reply s. The Gimp splash looks awesome! I will upload it for everyone to use whenever I get it fixed. .

It looks good, kinda unpolished though.
Also, the Ubuntu logo should not be the more prominent of the two.

I made some changes based on your feedback. The Ubuntu logo is less dominating now and I tried to clean up the image. The color is a little darker to make the image clearer.Have a look!

Looks good so far.
The only suggestion I have right now is to make it so the ubuntu logo doesn't blend into the background. Maybe an outline or shadow will let it stand out a little better.

I noticed the logo too. I brightened up the logo so it doesn't blend in so much.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to make suggestions! Thanks to all of you there is a polished looking splash screen that everyone can enjoy! Thanks again!
