Weird color problem with CSS

Counter-Strike: Source is working perfectly on my Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon
which is awesome because Windows is a torture to use because it's
slower then death, ANYWAY to the point.

I have a monitor with horribly dark color so I have to use whatever
settings I can find to boost the video signal or whatnot.

At the moment I'm using KDE's "Monitor and Display" module in KControl
to boost the gamma but whenever I start up any Source-based game,
such as CSS, the color goes back to being dark and I have to go back
to KDE and re-boost the gamma then I can go back to my game without
bumping into walls.

Is there anyway I can get my KDE color settings to "stick" or get WINE
to not screw with it at least?
