Would like to see a Mouse snap to default dialog box in Hardy Heron. This is one of the few features in XP that I always found useful and helpful to being productive. I hope that the Development team gives this feature consiideration for the HH.

I agree.:!: A very useful feature. :!:
As a preemptive strike: I have seen posts by some on other sites to the effect that it's annoying, because they start to move the mouse only to realize that it was already where they needed it. To them I'd respond that I'd hate to be driving on the same road as them if they do everything on "auto-pilot" without paying attention.
In addition, I'd also like to see the "SONAR" feature that briefly shows concentric rings around the mouse cursor when you tap the Control key. I find that helpful when a screen is really cluttered with a number of windows open and I've been ALT-TABbing between them and I loose track of the cursor.
Come on people, let's get this idea rolling. There's till time to squeeze this into Hardy Heron (or at least a maintenance update of it).

I'm afraid it's too late for Hardy.
You should file a feature request about this against mousetweaks in the GNOME bug tracker (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/).

We're way past feature freeze, and "maintenance updates" can't ship new features. I'd file a bug in the GNOME bug tracker or post to the gnome-usability mailing list about it.

I guess you're right. My subconscious was still in February <grin> when I posted that.
You suggest adding the request to GNOME bug tracker, but how about K*, X*, and all the other *buntu's?
Isn't there a way this could be done at the X11 level rather than the KDE/GNOME/XFCE/etc. level?

No. This is a desktop feature request, nothing to do with X11. mousetweaks is the thing at System>Preferences>Mouse>Accessibility, and is (as of 2.22) part of GNOME.

This is possible in Hardy under mouse preferences.
And about the snapping... I don't like that feature.
And since we're talking about mouse pointers it would be nice if Ubuntu would ship with cursors for left handed people too.

I hate the feature too, but I think it exists for accessibility reasons. Therefore, an upstream bug report now would be a good thing if people want to see it hit Hardy+1.
Somebody who knows more about the accessibility reasons would be ideal for the bug reporting.

(A) re SONAR: Glad to hear it. I look forward to Hardy already -- now even more so.
(B) re SNAP TO: I understand that you -- and many others -- don't like the feature. I'm also certain that many DO like the feature. It would obviously have to be an optional item so the user has his/her choice, right?
(C) re southpaw support: Couldn't agree more. My wife is a leftie and I know the frustration she has in a right-handed world (not just with computers). She can switch buttons but the right-hander pointers get her goat.
Lastly: If it's too late for Hardy, is there one place to post a request so it'll be picked up by the developers for all the *buntus? (or does this forum serve that purpose?
