Hello,

I'm in need of a IE7 installation to test a website and can't install it with ies4linux beta due to an error I get. I already wrote the ies4linux developer but didn't get an answer yet and since this fairly urgent for me, I was wondering if somebody here is kind enough to share his .ies4linux folder with ie7 included, of course.. maybe it'll work. Or do you have other idea?

I'm on Gutsy .. Thanks a lot!

Regards,
Rem.

Try the forum for installations instead of this one? It's the only "help" I have. But it could be a reason for lack of response.

I just thought that maybe some web developers around here could share their .ies4linux folder. Don't want to report this as an Ubuntu installation issue because it isn't. Unfortunately the lack of response comes from IE24Linux site. Hopefully it isn't a serious problem.

I think you're getting some lack of response here as well actually. ;)

*sigh*. I don't think anybody here knows how to help you... Sorry.
In my 2 months or so at these forums, I notice that you have a 1/700 or so chance of getting a dev's input.. :lolflag:

Not sure if you're still interested, but I came across this thread with the same problem.

Now I've manageed to install IE7 by not installing IE6, because it generated a cabextract error or something.

The command I used was

./ies4linux --beta-install-ie7 --no-gui --no-ie6

I wanted to attach my .ies4linux folder, but it took way too long to create an archive, so I hope you'll manage with the above command.

Maybe it is because developers are busy developing, and don't want to waste time by trying to answer all kinds of unrelated problems like rest of us hanging around does?

If you have specific question about rather specialized and not widely used program, chances that some randomly selected person uses it is quite low. For such specialized questions, you are obviously much better off contacting support venue suggested by original developers - usually specialized mailing list, dedicated to that specific product only.

It's not like developers want to ignore you: they want to get things done. Hanging around here does not increase coding productivity and does not fix bugs.

After all was said and done i had to use the --no-gui option but it works.
