I have Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy running on a nvidia 7300.

I have dual monitors running fine w/ xinerama - installed through the nvidia-settings tool.

I have the newest version of vmware server running - 1.04. What I want to do, and have never been able to accomplish is make my virtual windows xp install full screen on my right monitor while having ubuntu run in my left monitor.

The closest I have gotten to this is by setting it to "quick switch" and then filling one screen - but then theres grey lines around.

if anyone has a solution I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat here.

AMD 4400 w/ dual nvidia 7800
Vmware server 1.0.4 build-56528

I'm trying to get as close to a non-windowed version as I can, and also up the performance of the vm.

It's manageable to use the quick switch mode, but fullscreen (apparently, according to my memory which tells me I read it somewheres) will get you better performance on the Guest OS.
I'm considering using VMWare player as per the reasoning here http://linuxappfinder.com/blog/is_vmware_player_faster_than_vmware_server

however i have no idea if it will perform better in fullscreen mode with dual heads. The article also doesn't really conclusively state that an Ubuntu host would get better performance with Player, I think they refer to windows hosts only :(

anyone with similar experiences, your input is welcome!

Hi,

I'm also using vmware server, and i have installed Windows XP on it... When attempting to get it full screen on my Ubuntu 8.04, it appears in the center of my dual display, where as i just want to appear full screen on my left display...

Any ideas how i do this?
