One of my biggest problems with ubuntu is that it's wireless support (ESPECIALLY usb) is very lacking. I understand that some PCI intel wireless cards work well, since I've seen a Lenovo T60 work with sound, wireless internet, everything work right out of the box.
Usb devices just give everybody lots of trouble, especially if you have usb wireless. Anything usb that I plug in after booting causes my internet to disconnect, and even hibernation and suspension causes the entire network manager to shut down. If you ask me, this can be very much improved, although the demand may seem low. It's just that if you cannot connect to the internet, then you can't do ANYTHING... get codecs, programs, browse internet, use email, or at least most of them not easily.
If you can get the internet support mastered, then I believe everything will begin to work out after that and there would be many less help posts.
