I feel it would be an excellent innovation to have a gparted type software allow a linux "noob" to easily resize their hard drive partition and easily install ubuntu to dual boot.

This area can become too complex for the average user to have to do manually. Since its not all that critical to have the option for a more automated experience in this stage.

Just don't leave it up to them to figure out how big their swap file has to be etc.

This would make it easier for a windows user that has tried running ubuntu off the live cd and now wants to install it. But doesn't want to format the entire drive. It would also be nice if the proper resizing of the partitions is done without the user having to figure out what ext3 is etc.

Sending them out to browse the web for a "how to" on this subjects lets them run into too many old versions of these "how to's". It would save a lot of time and complication, plus it would be cool.

They should still have to use the slider bar in gparted to choose how much they want to resize their windows partition. Since that part you really can't leave out. Other than that have the whole linux swap file part ext all automated amd trouble free.

Does this already exist?

Cause it sure didn't with feisty fawn.

Thanks
