Hi, I have a problem with Icon Themes in Ubuntu Gutsy, because all the themes that usually worked in Ubuntu Feisty now they are not working any more... some icons are applied but all the "Appliations Menu" stays with the horrible Gnome default theme. What can I do?? because all the icon themes from gnome-look don't work correctly.

I can easily switch between the included icon themes, but it says any icon theme packages from gnome-look.org are in an invalid format.

Are you placing the packages into .icons?
I just tried downloading a package from Gnomelook.ORG and had no problems when I did that.

No I haven't tried placing them to my .icons folder, I was just trying to install the package with the 'Install...' button in the theme selection tab of the Appearance dialog. Even if placing them in .icons works, shouldn't it work in the Appearance dialog too?

I've only had luck with placing them into my .icons...
Then you still need to select them from the appearance dlg.

A number of icon themes no longer work because of the update to Gnome 2.20 - you'll need to wait for specific icon pack updates before they work properly, or get down and dirty in the packages and do some renaming. Some do work - for example, Oxygen Refit and nuoveXT both work, OsX_MoD, and Mac4Lin do not.
