can i have direct rendering in gusty with my ati radeon igp 345m?

Hi all

I have a problem with direct rendering on my hp nx9010 notebook that has an ati radeon igp 345m gpu. I cannot get direct rendering. I am coming with ubuntu from warthy and i alway had direct rendering. I had beryl working cool on feisty and mainly my graphics works well on any distro with the open source ati/radeon driver. So i got really suprised on not haveing direct rendering and thus compiz on gusty.

Is there any resolution to this problem?

pd i am using the livecd so far but i am afraid it would not work on installed version neither.

Yes it is a bit upsetting that something that used to work stops doing so. I am feeling somehow that this to blame on the software. I hope someone will actually come up with a resolution. My problem is that i may not install 7.10 until someone finds out how to get 3d working with radeon igp 345m.

I have tried allready everything i could (messing with xorg.conf) etc. but no help
On the other side i just tried the new mandriva and evrithing works nicely.

so lets hope that there is a way to get our card working

Hi again

So it seems so far impossible to resolve this problem. This actually makes me somehow upset. When I got my laptop I was extreemly happy as it came with linux installed on it. I remember it was Mandrake 9.1.3 and since that time I allways had direct rendering. So it is somehow stunning that I cannot get dri with the new Gutsy Gibbon release of Ubuntu. I feel somehow neglected (I know that it is my fault and I should have participated in testing). Anyway next week I am going to put on a new linux sistem. If dri will still be a problem in Ubuntu I might just change to some other distro (as I feel reluctant to reinstall Feisty).
So please help me get my dri working on 7.10

Same problem here with graphics on nx9010. Isn't there ANYBODY out there who can at least offer an explanation, if not a fix? Please? Nobody has attempted to help with this thread at all and if it was working for some people on Feisty but now doesn't work on Gutsy, then obviously people are going to be frustrated. Is there any indication that this will work with Hardy?
